FT Talent’s younger generation-focused podcast teams up with Musixmatch to make content accessible to all

The FT Talent Challenge is a competition from the Financial Times that invites bright young talent from all over the world to pitch solutions aimed at solving our most pressing business challenges.

To expand our reach we created The Talent Show Podcast where we sat down with global leaders to ask career-focused questions in order to engage our under 30 audience and give them a taste of the inspiration, creativity and learning that can be experienced at an FT Talent Challenge.

Globally there are almost 4,000,000 podcast shows and more than 60,000,000 episodes available. Two new podcast episodes are published every minute.

However, there is one, big problem: as it stands audio is an inaccessible medium. It’s inaccessible by people with hearing impairments, by people who may not be fluent in the podcast’s recording language but also by search engines: even if an audio file is tagged with metadata that can be indexed in a search engine, its actual content remains hidden to the listeners and it's impossible to preview.

That's why we are so excited to partner with Musixmatch to better cater to our very global and diverse audience and be part of Musixmatch’s innovation in this area.

We want this podcast to be accessible and available to everyone so that as many people as possible can benefit from the knowledge of the experts we speak to. This is why we’ve teamed up with Musixmatch to make sure each of our episodes has a transcript so that you can consume our content in whatever way suits you best.

Speaking about the partnership Marco Paglia, Chief Product Officer at Musixmatch, said ‘Musixmatch Podcasts is the natural companion to the contents of the FT Talent Show podcast, which was created for a young, international audience of learners, who are interested in innovation. That’s why when presented with the Musixmatch Podcasts project, Virginia Stagni and her team at Financial Times became immediately partners in making their content more accessible, discoverable and sharable, which is in line with their audience expectations.’

And Virginia Stagni, Head of Business Development - FT Talent Director, Financial Times has said ‘Our vision is to bring to our audience a useful learning tool through our podcast content. Giving access to a new interaction with our audio through the Musixmatch products is an exciting opportunity to offer a 360-degree UX that touches not only 'the listening' but gives a holistic digital experience of our brand. We are a hub of innovation here at the Financial Times: Musixmatch is a disruptive partner to work with to experiment and take our products to the next level’
