Successful First FT Talent Challange hosted in New York
From November 30th to December 2nd, FT Talent hosted its first-ever Talent Challenge in New York. 50 bright entrepreneurial minds interested in innovating the Future of News gathered in the FT’s office in NYC and worked in teams to solve real business & strategic cases related to the digital and media world.
They worked directly with FT mentors to support them and give them practical advice and insights throughout the event. The challenges were related to how the FT can be better at attracting and engaging younger readers, especially university students.
During the 3 days the students heard from top FT speakers such as:
Peter Spiegel, US Managing Editor
James Fontanella-Khan, US Deals and Corporate Finance Editor
Andrew Jack, FT Global Learning Editor
Nick Fallon, FT B2B Director
Dilyana Evtimova, Senior Product Manager
Tania Cherkas, Head of Global Media Strategy and Brand Partnerships
Kirsty Devine, Global HR Leader
The 8 teams worked together to innovate the Future of News in the areas of Editorial, Product, Commercial and Brand. There was a winner for each category and an overall winner. Congratulations to everyone who took part for their innovative ideas, enthusiasm and energy over the 3 days.
Congratulations to our winning teams:
P1: for creating a new learning platform for amateur investors to educate and empower those who are looking to start doing more with their money
E2: for creating a new tier of the FT Edit called FT Edit + that provides a bit more for those who want to access more FT but aren’t yet ready for a full subscription
B2: for creating a branding campaign centered around attracting students and engaging them with the FT encouraging them to use their free subscription
C1: for creating an innovate and unique way to encourage people to make the most of their FT subscription by gamifying the FT platform and experience
Speaking about the challenge, Virginia Stagni, Director of the FT Talent Challenge said, “The energy brought by the 50 participants in New York was contagious.
